potential to reach unicorn status.The OpportunityReporting directly
to the CTO, as Senior Director of Engineering for Core Services you
will oversee software engineering teams focused on Kandji's core
shared services platform, DevOps and Infrastructure. You will work
closely with engineering and product leaders across the company to
ensure that Kandji is hiring amazing people and delivering best in
class products. This position is also responsible for helping to
drive engineering practices across the organization, working with a
guild of like-minded leaders to continuously improve our
engineering practices, agile implementation and delivery
capabilities.How You Will Make a Difference Day to Day
- Drive Technical Vision: Develop and implement a cohesive
technical strategy that ensures scalability, reusability, and
technical excellence.
- Lead and Develop Teams: Mentor engineering managers and
individual contributors while fostering a high-performing,
collaborative culture.
- Ensure Scalable Systems: Champion the development of scalable,
efficient, and sustainable engineering practices.
- Inspire Innovation: Champion a culture of innovation by driving
initiatives such as hackathons, cross-team technical showcases, and
exploration of emerging technologies.
- Optimize Infrastructure: Work closely with DevOps and
infrastructure teams to enhance scalability, system reliability,
and performance. Implement solutions for improving system
monitoring, logging, and release/incident management.
- Drive Engineering Metrics: Establish and monitor key
engineering metrics (e.g., velocity, sprint completion, defect
rate) to measure team performance, identify areas for improvement,
and ensure high standards of engineering excellence.
- Optimize Processes: Use data-driven insights to optimize
engineering processes, implementing continuous feedback loops and
fostering a culture of transparency and accountability. Be a focal
point for evangelizing engineering best practices across the
organization.We'd love to hear from you if you have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science degree (or equivalent
experience).
- 10+ years of experience in increasingly responsible roles, with
at least 5+ years of team leadership in a complex global business
environment.
- Proven ability to manage a team of 25+ engineers, including
managers.
- Domain expertise in one or more of the following: enterprise
SaaS, developer platforms, large-scale data systems, IoT.
- Strong background in leveraging and improving infrastructure,
platform, and data components across a growing product
portfolio.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering highly scalable
platforms within enterprise environments, focusing on performance
and user experience.
- Proven success in hiring, retaining, and developing diverse
engineering talent, with a demonstrated commitment to creating an
inclusive team environment.
- Proven experience in managing and scaling infrastructure teams,
ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance of
critical systems.
- Strong background in DevOps, including implementing automated
testing strategies, continuous integration (CI), and continuous
delivery (CD) practices to ensure high-quality software
delivery.
- Expertise in systems monitoring, incident management, and
infrastructure automation to improve system uptime and
resilience.
- Experience in defining and tracking engineering metrics to
assess team productivity, quality, and efficiency. Ability to
leverage data to drive decisions and improve delivery
processes.
- Demonstrated success in managing engineering teams working in a
fast-paced, agile environment while balancing technical excellence
with business priorities.Nice to haves, but NOT required
- Expertise in platform architecture, including microservices,
event-driven systems, and distributed computing at scale.
- Proven success in building and scaling developer platforms or
reusable engineering components.
- Strong understanding of data systems, including data pipelines,
observability tools, and real-time data processing.
- Experience leading engineering efforts in a rapidly scaling
environment, balancing technical excellence with business
agility.
- Familiarity with compliance and security best practices for
platform engineering, especially in regulated industries (e.g.,
GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure management tools (e.g.,
Terraform, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and
reliable deployment processes.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g.,
Datadog).
- Experience with agile project management tools (e.g., Jira,
Trello) and performance tracking tools to continuously refine team
